It all started when…
I have been making art since I was two and a half years old, and drew on a yellow wall with a red crayon while my mother was off at the hospital giving birth to my brother. I have no memory of the incident, but I do know that there was always a supply of paper, pencils, crayons, markers, and paint on hand when I was growing up. There was no doubt about what I wanted to major in when I went to college.
Over the years I’ve enjoyed working with a variety of subjects and media, but I get the most satisfaction from creating pet portraits. Pushing a muddle of paint around until it comes to life feels like magic. Seeing the smile as someone recognizes their own pet looking back at them from the canvas—that’s the best magic of all!
